Wake up Congress. End Darfur's nightmare.Amnesty supporters last fall met with their district congressional offices and urged them to do more to help bring peace and security to Darfur. As a result of these efforts, 174 members of the House of Representatives and all 100 Senators signed a letter urging the Arab League to persuade the government of Sudan to allow UN peacekeepers to protect the civilian population of Darfur. The sustained efforts of people like you worldwide have proven that together we can help bring hope for peace to Darfur, but we need to continue to make our voices heard on this issue to ensure lasting security. Constituent visits to elected officials to raise awareness about Amnesty’s human rights concerns make an impact on lawmakers’ decisions in a way that emails or phone calls can’t. And there’s no more important time than now to make sure that we’re getting our message across.
